LIBI HONORS VETERANS : Building Home for Heroes

Since 2006, Building Homes for Heroes has been at the forefront of making a significant difference in the lives of the severely-wounded men and women of the military. They build homes from the ground up or modify existing homes to meet the needs of the brave men and women who have selflessly served our country. These mortgage-free homes not only help to remove the family’s financial burden, they help to restore the individual’s freedom, and enable the veteran to lead a more independent and productive civilian life.
On Thursday, November 10th, Long Island Business Institute was privileged to celebrate Veteran’s Day with some of the organization’s honored heroes and leaders. Student Success and Retention/Veteran’s Affairs Coordinator, Anna Venturino, hosted a Chinese auction fundraiser on November 3rd to raise money for this cause. With the hard work and support of the college community, Anna was able to raise $2,044. Along with LIBI President Monica Foote, Dean of Administration, Enos Cheung, and Homeland Security and Security Management Director, Richard S. Colt, Major General US Army Retired, Anna presented the Building Homes for Heroes representatives with a check. LIBI also had the pleasure of honoring some of their own student veterans as well as General Colt.
Long Island Business Institute recognizes the importance of acknowledging our veterans in today’s society. The hard work they have performed to serve our country is praiseworthy, and deserving of recognition. LIBI is pleased to support those who have been called upon to make a tremendous personal sacrifice and was thrilled to have been able to spend this special day with such remarkable heroes.
